Meridian Online Offers New Features

by Shaun Roundy, Meridian Assistant Editor

With the new online format of the Meridian, readers have access to many modern features which you may wish to take advantage of:

1. Articles are easy to read on small screens like your phone. Visit https://mra.org/category/meridian-editions/ and select any article which catches your interest, including from many past editions.

2. Search for articles by category, edition, or specific words.

3. Bookmark individual articles in your browser for future reference.

4. Share individual articles, either by copying the URL from your browser or use the social media share buttons below each article.

5. Sometimes timely articles will be posted before the next full edition gets released, so feel free to visit now and then to see what’s new (the most recent articles will appear at the top of the list).

6. Comment on individual articles. In order to reduce spam and maximize civility, you must be logged in to comment, and all comments are moderated.

To register:

A. From any Meridian page, you will find a Log In form at the bottom of the right sidebar. If you haven’t yet registered, click Log In to continue to page 2.

B. Below the Log In button on page 2, click Register.

C. On page 3, enter a username (your name is preferred) and password, and click Register.

D. You will receive an email with a link to set your password.

E. You may now log in from any Log In form and comment on articles. All perspectives are welcome, but civility and respect are required

for your comment to be approved.

7. Remember to visit MRA sponsors by clicking any of their ads you’ll see around the site!

As expected, we’ve already seen an increase of views for the online version compared to the previous PDF-only format. We hope this will motivate you to contribute your expertise and experience by submitting articles on topics of interest to other rescue volunteers. Not only will your efforts serve more people, but your article will remain easily found long after the current edition gets replaced by others.

Valued articles could share technical information, medical best practices, mission reports, unique approaches your team has found to solve problems and get the job done, or recruiting, retention, fundraising, and leadership tips, and more.

Submit your article proposals to MeridianEditor@mra.org. Don’t worry if you don’t consider yourself an expert writer, as the editors can work with you to ensure high quality end results.
